Distance measurement is a fundamental sensing technology.

A wide variety of processes have been used to address different types of distance sensing applications. Pepperl+Fuchs now - in contrast to our competitors – offers a complete sensor family based entirely on the superior Pulse Ranging Technology (PRT). Customers will no longer have to rely on the phase correlation method or other similar chip-based processes. The advantages of such processes - moderate costs and acceptable levels of accuracy- have now been replaced by PRT.

The modern Pulse Ranging Technology (PRT) delivers better parameters at a lower cost. Long range, accuracy, insensitivity to extraneous light, and attractive pricing combine to make an irresistible package. Concentrating on a single technology means Pepperl+Fuchs is the first supplier to offer the advantage of rapid and lower-cost developments. The Pepperl+Fuchs portfolio includes the following PRT distance measurement sensors:

R10x series photoelectric sensors

For the first time, state-of-the-art product design combines several photoelectric families of sensors with innovative technologies in one housing design. The powerful laser technology DuraBeam and MPT distance measurement ensure reliability and precision. With its built-in IO-Linkfunctionality, the R10x series photoelectric sensors fulfill all requirements for Sensorik4.0. This all-round solution provides a unique flexibility and opens up a variety of possible applications.

R2100 Multi-Ray LED Scanner

The R2100 Multi-Ray LED scanner pushes the realm of possibility one step further by combining Pulse Ranging Technology with Ultra-IR LEDs and Multi-Ray Scan. Multiple LED transmitter elements arranged next to each other provide a two-dimensional surface measurement with eleven light spots. This ensures reliable detection of any surface, regardless of shape or texture. This makes the R2100 the best solution for challenging indoor and outdoor applications in equipment, intralogistics or machine and plant engineering.

R2000 2-D Laser Scanners

The R2000 series combines standard sensors with latest measuring methods. Equipped with innovative Pulse Ranging Technology (PRT), the R2000 2-D laser scanners provide reliable and extremely precise measuring results—with a gapless all-around visibility of 360°. Several versions are available: The R2000 UHD is suitable for complex measuring tasks and navigation. The R2000 HD is used for object profiling and robotic applications. The R2000 Detection is an easy-to-use laser scanner for demanding field monitoring applications.

VDM28 Distance Sensor

The new, small VDM28 distance sensor uses Pulse Ranging Technology (PRT) to move it to the front of the market ahead of all comparable devices from a performance point of view. It is integrated into a compact housing from the standard series 28 sensor range. The universal VDM28distance sensor can be used in a wide range of industries and applications.

VDM100 Distance Measurement Sensor

The VDM100 distance measurement sensors are well-suited for larger distances up to 300 m. The repeat accuracy of all the devices in the range is 0.5 mm, with a resolution of 0.1 mm. SSI and fieldbuses are used as measured value interfaces. The sensors are used to position stock feeders to within a millimeter.
