fluid lubricants that solidify during use can enhance the power output of traction drives while extending their useful lives. these lubricants extend the life of industrial gearless planetroll type systems and are the choice lubricants for the new generation automotive transmission systems where continuously variable transmission (cvt) are used.

santotrac products

traction lubricants are synthetic hydrocarbon fluids that become solid under high stress and high shear. they are liquid beyond the contact area, which makes them useful in traction type drives. these products have high coefficient of traction (ratio of transmitted force to contact force) and molecular stability to resists high shear, high speeds, and pressures, while maintaining the integrity of the film between the stressed metal surfaces. santotrac lubricants undergo unusually high transitory viscosity-increase under high pressures. it has been demonstrated that contact pressures of 700,000 psi have not succeeded in destroying the integrity of the film between metal-to-metal rolling surfaces. santotrac lubricants are produced in a range of viscosity grades, wide enough to enable the user to se-lect the most suitable viscosity for a particular operating condition and application. all grades offer stability at high temperature, high coefficient of traction and good lubricating performance.

1. santotrac 32 traction lubricant

santotrac 32 is a low viscosity industrial traction lubricant. it has high traction coefficient and is thermally stable.

2. santotrac 50 traction lubricant

santotrac 50 is an industry standard for variable speed, gearless drive systems. it has been used in hundreds of applications worldwide over the past 25 years. santotrac 50 is used in industrial, automotive and aerospace applications, where it provides excellent power transmission at very high speeds. this specially designed lubricant has exceptional heat and oxidative stability and will significantly improve equipment performance and service life. santotrac is a non-toxic, environmentally friendly product that has the highest coefficient of traction of any lubricant known to date. it provides the best balance of properties for most uses: medium viscosity, good anti-wear lubrication in sliding contact, good rust protection, negligible foaming and high traction properties.

santotrac greases are high traction, high temperature greases with excellent thermal and mechanical stability. these greases are recommended for applications requiring operation at low and high temperatures where a high coefficient of traction is necessary, and where the lubricant must maintain high elastohydrodynamic (ehd) film thickness. these greases enhance the rolling contact performance of bearings and extend fatigue life.
