Visolite* Leak Detection System

The patented Visolite* Leak Detection System was developed to reduce the time plant personnel spent identifying tears, holes, and bad seals in bags. These inspection procedures involved extensive exposure to high dust environments. Additionally, structural air leaks such as weld cracks could not be detected unless they were clearly visible. To facilitate trying to find leaks, Visolite, a lightweight fluorescent powder, is injected into the baghouse. The powder follows the path of least resistance, accumulating around the source of leakage. A monochromatic light is then used to pinpoint the exact location of air leakage and indicate its severity.

Application
Visolite is available in three different colors and incorporates a varying particle size distribution to minimize fabric bleed through. Straight pigment is also available for specific applications. It is important to choose the appropriate color for your specific application:
- Pink - Good in all industries
- Orange - Good in all industries except those where iron oxide is present
- Green - Good in aluminum, cement, and utility industries; good contrasting color for pink and orange
Visolite powder usageTo determine the quantity of tracer compound needed to run one Visolite test, follow these guidelines:
- For every 1,000 square feet (93 square meters) of filter cloth, one pound (.45 kg) of Visolite is needed.
- To calculate filter cloth area use the following formula: the powder quantity may vary depending on the length of ductwork between the fan and baghouse.

Testing Capabilities

Frequently Asked QuestionsQ. How much Visolite should be used?
A. Use 1 lb. of Visolite powder per 1000 square feet of filter cloth. More may be required on positive pressure systems, depending on length of ductwork from the fan to the baghouse.Q. How long should the fan be run after the injection of Visolite?
A. Approximately 45 seconds, no longer than a minute. Q. What is the particle size of Visolite powder?
A. The micron size ranges between 2 and 14. The particle size distribution is designed to provide highest visibility to locate bag leaks.Q. How long does the charge last during use of the Cordless Viso Wand?
A. 2 to 3 hours.Q. How long does the Cordless Viso Wａnd take to charge?
A. At least 6 hours - recommend overnight.Q. What is the recommended light for structural baghouses?
A. The Big Light.Q. What is the recommended light for shaker baghouses?
A. The Super WandQ. Why run two tests?
A. After all repairs have been completed, rerun the Visolite test using a different contrasting color to ensure that no leaks remain. The second color clearly shows any areas that may have been missed.
