The Dakota VX is a hand-held ultrasonic velocity gauge. When measuring materials such as casts, alloys, or plastics, the VX displays the speed of sound (velocity) through the material; thus giving an indication of its consistency.

With the hand-held VX Ultrasonic Velocity gauge, you can determine material velocities by measuring a known thickness, entering a known thickness into the VX, and the material velocity will be displayed. The tool’s backlit display is easy to read, even in dim light, and the unit operates for up to 200 hours on a single set of batteries.

The VX gauge has 2 measuring modes: The Point-to-Point mode, which is simply placing the probe to the material and the gauge will display the velocity at that point. The Scan mode allows the operator to place the probe on the material and then move the probe along the surface; when the probe is lifted from the material, it will then display the fastest velocity the gauge found on the area covered.

VX超聲波速度計有兩個測量模式，一個是點對點測量模式，在該模式下只需要簡單地將探頭接觸被測材料表面，顯示屏就會顯示聲波進入這個點的速度。而另一個模式，掃描模式，可以讓使用者將探頭接觸被測物表面，然后沿著被測物表面游走，當探頭從被測物表面拿開后，顯示屏?xí)@示游走區(qū)域的聲波速度。
