Background: This gene is a member of the iron/manganese superoxide dismutase family. It encodes a mitochondrial protein that forms a homotetramer and binds one manganese ion per subunit. This protein binds to the superoxide byproducts of oxidative phosphorylation and converts them to hydrogen peroxide and diatomic oxygen. Mutations in this gene have been associated with idiopathic cardiomyopathy (IDC), premature aging, sporadic motor neuron disease, and cancer. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized. 

 Specificity :

Storage:  Store at -20 for one year. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cy ℃ cles. The  lyophilized antibody is stable at room temperature for at least one month and for greater  than a year when kept at -20 . When reconstituted in sterile pH 7.4 0.01M PBS or diluent  of ℃ antibody, the antibody is stable for at least six weeks at 2-4 ℃
