An electromagnetic flowmeter is a commonly used flow measurement instrument that is used to measure the flow of liquids or gases in pipes. It measures the flow of fluid by sensing the electromagnetic field produced by the flow of the fluid. It works on the principle of Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. In a conductive medium, such as water or wastewater, a magnetic field is generated by two electrodes. When the conductive medium flows in the magnetic field, an induced electromotive force (EMF) is generated between the two electrodes. This induced EMF is proportional to the flow rate of the conductive medium, and this makes it possible to measure the flow rate accurately.
The operating principle of an electromagnetic flowmeter is to detect changes in the induced EMF caused by the movement of charged particles in the liquid or gas being measured, and to use the detected changes in EMF to calculate the flow velocity and flow rate. The electromagnetic flowmeter has a wide measuring range, high accuracy, and can be used to measure a variety of liquids and gases. It is particularly suitable for measuring media containing solid particles and corrosive media.
Electromagnetic flowmeters are widely used in water treatment, chemical, food, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, and other industries. They are currently the most commonly used flowmeter in the field of flow measurement.
